Lesson Requirements
A requirement for taking piano lessons is, of course, a piano. An acoustic piano is strongly recommended, but if you have a digital piano with weighted keys that you would like to use that is acceptable.
The touch and feel of a keyboard is much different. I have learned that it is difficult to convey the technique of playing piano when students go home and practice on a keyboard. Please be aware of this and plan accordingly. Thank you!
Please keep your child’s fingernails well trimmed to avoid clicking on the piano keys.
I strongly encourage parents of my young students to sit in on the lesson and take notes. This way when you are at home you can help your child effectively, and none of the progress during the lesson will be lost.
As the students get older and are able to remember what was taught at the lesson, it is not a crucial for parents to be at the lessons.
If you are unable to come and sit in on a lesson, I will take notes and share them with you so that you can help your child at home.
Missed Lessons
While I understand that things come up last minute and life gets hectic, there are no refunds for missed lessons. I do provide for a makeup lesson at the end of each month if you have missed a lesson for a sick child or other reasons. In cases of bad weather, I will arrange with you personally to determine a make up lesson time.
Although some months have 5 weeks and some only 3 weeks (due to vacation time for holidays), the average is 4 lessons per month, so the tuition rate will remain consistent each month. I will post a yearly calendar which shows the weeks off for vacation time and other important dates.
Payment
Payment is due at the beginning of each month. If payment is not received by the 10th of the month, a late fee of five dollars will be added to the monthly dues. Check or cash is accepted.
